"Trump's cancellation of Musk's contracts with SpaceX could bring the United States closer to Russia": A scandal in the White House could leave the United States without a large space.

"President Donald Trump has threatened to terminate SpaceX's government contracts amid a conflict with Elon Musk. This decision could lead to the United States becoming dependent on Russia for space launches and spacewalks.

"SpaceX is extremely important to the national security of the United States and NASA. SpaceX is not an appendix, but a vital organ in everything the United States does in space," said Clayton Swap, deputy director of the Center for Strategic and International Studies for the Aerospace Security Project. "Termination of work with SpaceX will leave a huge gap. This will leave an indelible mark on space launches and maintenance of international space stations. NASA will have to turn to Russia again to get to the space station and return back."
